We are officially selected to the:
International Film Festival of Larissa in Greece 24.02-3.03
The ‘’Artfools international Film Festival’’ takes place every year, during the first 10 days of February, in the city of Larissa, Greece, held by ‘’Artfools ‘’civil non-profit organization for Arts and Culture, Larissa, Greece. In its official competitive section, the Festival features short length films of digital nature along with a non-competitive section of Retrospectives and Tributes to important leading international filmmakers, film masterclasses, cinema seminars, photography exhibitions and book presentations.
RapidLion’s programme will premiere the world’s highest number of films by filmmakers who were either born in Africa or are members of the African diaspora. There will be room for all genres and lengths of films in the different sections: Feature films will vie for the RapidLion in the In-Competition section of the festival. Shorts will afford African film students from any film school in the world to compete for the RapidLion for Best Short Film. Kinder cinema will be curated to get mums and dads to bring their children to the festival.
There will be films from the rest of the world through BRICS at RapidLion, which will see films from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa compete for Best of BRICS, and In-The-Spotlight, for which an international cinema great will be invited to showcase a body of work. Homage will comprise the work of the recipient of The Lionel Ngakane Lifetime Achievement Award.
We will inform about the show when the information about the show will appear here: http://rapidlion.co.za/rapidlion-films-2019-schedule/
This festival is very different from anything you have encountered before, the judging process is opened every month to our viewing public and your invited audience. The projects collect votes during a week-long VOD screening, with the top voted films promoted into our internal round where our judges vote on the finalists. Then when a winner has been announced that winner joins us for a live screening at our celebration event held once a year at Pinewood Studios.
The Lift-Off Sessions is a monthly online showcase, dedicated to screening the monthly collection of globally submitted indie shorts and features. With the aim to send each programme out to as wide of an audience as possible. The reason this festival is so different from many others is due to our data on declining audience figures for indie film.
